Milling, Turning or Both?

CNC MILLING

Prismatic & Multi-Face Parts

Suitable for housings, plates, brackets, pockets, slots and features located on several faces.

CNC TURNING

Round & Cylindrical Parts

Suitable for shafts, bushings, sleeves, threaded connectors, pins and concentric features.

MILL-TURN

Combined Geometry

Round parts with flats, cross holes, slots or off-axis features may require combined operations.

MULTI-AXIS

Complex Access

4- or 5-axis access can reduce setups for angled surfaces and more demanding geometry.

Typical Part Types

MillingEquipment housings, mounting plates, brackets, fixtures and heat-management parts
TurningShafts, spacers, bushings, collars, connectors and threaded components
CombinedParts requiring concentric control plus milled flats, holes, slots or mounting features
SecondaryDeburring, tapping, inserts, finishing, marking and assembly coordination

Materials We Commonly Review

Aluminum

Common grades include 6061, 6063 and other drawing-specified alloys.

Stainless Steel

Selected grades for corrosion resistance, strength and equipment applications.

Steel

Carbon and alloy steels reviewed according to strength, hardness and finish needs.

Other Materials

Brass, copper, titanium and selected plastics can be evaluated by project.

What Our Engineers Check Before Machining

Datums and critical dimensionsConfirm which features control fit, alignment and assembly.
Tool accessReview deep pockets, small internal radii, cross holes and multi-side features.
WorkholdingCheck thin walls, limited clamping areas and deformation risk after release.
Threads and interfacesConfirm thread standards, depths, inserts, bores and mating surfaces.
Finishing sequenceReview whether anodizing, plating or heat treatment affects final dimensions.

From RFQ to Production

Files & RFQDFM ReviewProgrammingMachiningInspection

Samples or production batches are manufactured against the current approved drawing. Revision status, critical features and agreed inspection requirements remain linked to the job.

Quality Focus

In-Process Checks

Selected dimensions and tool condition are monitored during machining.

Final Verification

Critical dimensions and appearance are checked to agreed requirements.

Finish Review

Edges, color and surface condition are evaluated after secondary operations.

Records on Request

Required inspection or material documentation should be identified in the RFQ.

Tolerance note: Requirements such as ±0.01 mm may be achievable for suitable features. Final capability depends on part geometry, material, process route, quantity and measurement method.

Information Needed for Quotation

  • 2D drawing and STEP, IGES or another available 3D CAD file
  • Material grade and required condition
  • Prototype quantity and expected repeat-production volume
  • Critical tolerances, threads, fits and cosmetic surfaces
  • Surface finish, color, marking and assembly requirements
  • Inspection documents, certificates and target delivery date
